The attempted robbery took place in Medford around 5:50 p.m., Monday, Oct. 21, when Frank Annunziata Jr., entered the store at 3197 Horseblock Road in Medford and threatened the clerk with a knife, said the Suffolk County Police.
That's when another employee attempted to stop Annunziata, 61, police said.
A fight broke out and the employee received cuts on his hands. That's when two Good Samaritans intervened and were able to detain Annunziata until Sixth Precinct officers arrived on the scene, police said.
The injured employee was transported via ambulance to Long Island Community Hospital in East Patchogue for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
Annunziata was charged with attempted robbery, assault, and criminal possession of stolen property.
He was held overnight at the Sixth Precinct and is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Tuesday, Oct. 22.
